AG Provides Flagstones for Local Dog Sanctuary

Following the Belfast Telegraph’s recent feature on Lucy’s Trust – the charity dedicated to providing comfort and survival to some of Northern Ireland’s unluckiest stray dogs – one local company has pledged its support and admiration. 

Co Tyrone headquartered firm Acheson + Glover (AG) reached out and offered flagstones for the fenced exercise yard which provides security during playtime – an essential part of ensuring the canines’ wellbeing.

The local company, which manufactures a range of hard landscaping and precast concrete products, was moved by the noble campaign by dog lovers, veterinary surgeon Olivia Kennedy and her partner Rob Durston.

The acre sized, fenced-off exercise area will now be flagged for the No Kill shelter to allow dogs the room to run and to let off steam, providing added security along the fence line.

The new paved area, using AG’s Canterra Sandstone flagstones will prevent the dogs digging out under the fence and also thwart neighbouring livestock, cats and other animals from venturing in.

The Trust, which has so far rescued over 300 dogs, caters for those who are difficult to rehome because of their breed, like Staffordshire bull terriers, former working dogs and those in need of long-term veterinary treatment.

Some forty dogs are currently being housed at the centre which was established, at a private location to protect the animals’ safety, in response to the overspill of animals at the Craigavon council dog pound over six years ago.

The trust is truly a sanctuary, allowing any needy animal a permanent home regardless of their circumstances. Every attempt is made to rehabilitate and re home the dogs, with all receiving full vaccinations, microchips, and being neutered/spayed, wormed and deflead before they are adopted by their new guardians.
