Stuart Thomas
Head of Sales (England, Wales + Channel Islands)
Stuart Thomas has been with AG for 10 years and is the Head of Sales for England, Wales and the Channel Islands.
Why did you decide to follow your chosen career path?
I joined a competitor’s organisation straight from University, in a Graduate Trainee role. When I started, I was told if you are in this industry for 2 years, you will be in it for life, and it seems that has come true.
I have specialised in the last decade in Sales and Sales Management and thoroughly enjoy this, as it is a people-to-person role, and I really like meeting new people, developing relationships with existing contacts and delivering value for the company and customers.
What does your day to day job entail?
Now, my role entails many different aspects. I meet the existing and potential new customers with my Sales team as much as possible. I also liaise a lot with internal colleagues mainly with people from Operations, Despatch, Marketing, Finance and other Sales areas to ensure excellence in our customer care and our customers experience of working with AG is positive.
I’m also involved in project work, looking at specific improvement areas for the business and reporting on key performance indicators for the business, relating to GB Sales.
What do you enjoy about working at AG?
AG is a friendly, positive place to work with many advantages compared with larger corporate businesses, as they certainly are small enough to care, but large enough to deliver as required.
AG in GB has grown considerably during my time with them, which is rewarding and really satisfying to see. We also have ambitious future growth plans, which I hope to support for years to come.
What would you say to someone considering joining the team at AG?
AG welcomes the right people to join the team. The Company ‘Vision, Mission and Values / Culture’ is clearly set out to everyone, and the team is bought into this.
The AG team is welcoming and friendly and there are always people to help and guide where required and support people’s personal ambitions within the organisation.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Spending time with the family (including spending time with my 2 dogs!), playing rugby for Droitwich RFC, coaching Colts rugby, country walks and travelling around GB and internationally.
