Plaza paving

Portstewart, one of Northern Ireland’s most iconic seaside towns, attracts huge numbers of visitors annually to walk along the Strand.

Hundreds of years of visitor footfall had impacted on the condition of its famous promenade, which had grown to look tired, with an uneven and untidy patchwork of original concrete paving slabs.

Parkhood Landscape Architects was commissioned to rejuvenate the seaside town, transforming the promenade into one that was as robust as it was attractive.

AG Plaza premium paving blocks were selected for the project due to their ability to fulfil both a practical and aesthetic remit. Plaza features a finish which offers great slip resistance – an imperative for such a heavily used and lengthy public walkway.

To achieve the desired look, three sizes and colours of Plaza were chosen – employed to meet design objectives, fashion a border and create a dramatic visual effect.
