The Challenge

Miller Construction were awarded the 27 million pound contract to build the initial flagship development for the University Quarter transformation programme.

Designed by Broadway Malyan Architects the building is a striking icon for the University Quarter and contains state-of-the-art facilities. High quality hard landscaping materials were demanded by Broadway Malyan’s design which carefully blended discrete areas of natural Dolomite Limestone flags with high quality natural aggregate concrete flag, paving and kerb products.

To achieve maximum efficiency in their supply chain, Miller Construction were looking for a single manufacturer that could supply them with a wide range of concrete products and services ranging from structural flooring and stairs to high quality hard landscaping products.

The Solution

AG provided a wide range of concrete products and associated services consisting of the supply and installation of precast hollowcore flooring, stairs, lift shafts and high quality natural aggregate hard landscaping materials.

Broadway Malyan selected a variety of AG’s high quality natural aggregate finished concrete paving (TerraPave® and Plaza) and kerb products subtly blending with the premium natural Dolomite limestone flags. AG designed, manufactured and installed all of the structural flooring (used on every level including the ground floor), stairs and lift shafts.

At the start of the procurement process AG arranged a factory tour/visit for the main contractor, architect and the paving installer to allow them to view the working manufacturing plants and products thus giving them high confidence in the quality of AG’s products, service and manufacturing ability. AG provided this personal service to demonstrate their commitment to the customer and their desire to understand the customer’s needs.
