AG Makes the Sustainable Choice

AG’s Partnership with Business in the Community Northern Ireland

In line with our Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy AG defines sustainability as the intrinsic balance between the social, economic and environmental aspects of our business operations. We are committed to these principles of sustainable development and aim to infuse them in all areas of our business through a process of continuous improvement.

To ensure we set out realistic goals and implement measurement tools for success, AG has partnered with Business in the Community (BITC).  Across Northern Ireland, BITC  helps businesses to develop their responsibility towards their People, the Planet and the Places where they operate.

AG makes public pledge to reduce GHG emissions by 2030

As part of the ongoing relationship with BITC, AG signed the Climate Action Pledge, making an important public commitment to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 30%/50% by 2030. The Pledge is part of the Business in the Community (BITC) Business Action on Climate campaign, which challenges businesses to take action on the climate crisis. The campaign puts Northern Ireland businesses at the forefront of action on the climate emergency

Listen to Stephen Acheson, AG Chief Executive Officer as he discuss the steps AG has already taken and outlines future sustainability steps.

The Pledge is a driver for business to take action on the climate emergency, working to ensure a liveable future and limit the increase in global temperatures well below 2°C. By signing the Climate Action Pledge and setting and striving to achieve ambitious GHG reduction targets, Northern Ireland organisations can demonstrate their commitment and willingness to collaborate to address this critical issue.

AG achieves Bronze in the Northern Ireland Environmental Benchmarking Survey

We are also pleased to announce that AG Paving and Building Products has achieved Bronze Level in the 2022 Northern Ireland Environmental Benchmarking Survey. The NI Environmental Benchmarking Survey is organised by responsible business network Business in the Community (BITC). It is an annual event that scores organisations on the measures they take to improve their environmental impacts Over 100 organisations from a range of different sectors measured and reported their environmental impacts.

The survey an important comparison tool and a helpful way for organisations to identify areas where they can improve their environmental impacts, as well as be recognised for their efforts to become more sustainable.
