AG kicked off 2026 with its annual Safety Reboot, a core element of the company’s #GoHomeSafe campaign. This initiative reflects AG’s ongoing commitment to health, safety and wellbeing through delivering a safe working environment.
Building on the strong momentum of recent years, AG’s 2026 Safety Reboot once again brought colleagues together for a series of interactive sessions delivered over a 10-day period. The sessions covered a wide range of critical safety areas, including incident prevention, daily inspection checklists, PPE, and AG’s proactive Good Catch initiative.
Supervisor-led sessions, were delivered in partnership with the HSEQ department across AG’s three manufacturing sites, which helped to raise awareness, reinforce best practice and encourage proactive safety behaviours. Key highlights included enhancements to AG’s award-winning Activ8 wellbeing programme, continued engagement with the company’s HSEQ reporting system – Dulann and continued focus on eliminating the Fatal 6 – the leading causes of serious workplace injuries.
Wellbeing remains a priority within AG and was a key focus of this year’s Safety Reboot. Employees revisited updated resources available through AG’s Wellbeing Hub, which continues to provide support for both mental and physical health. AG reinforced awareness of the support available through the Lighthouse Construction Charity – the only organisation dedicated entirely to providing emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to the construction community across the UK and Ireland. Employees were also encouraged to make use of the Health Shield programme, which helps cover a wide range of medical and health-related costs.
AG’s Good Catch initiative was another focal point of the reboot, with new categories and an improved reward scheme introduced for the ‘best good catches’, further encouraging employees to share suggestions for improvement.
A key component of the programme was highlighting the message around incident prevention, particularly in relation to the Fatal 6. These include slips, trips and falls, falling materials and manual handling injuries. A significant portion of the Safety Reboot focused on hand safety, as hand injuries remain one of the most common types of workplace injuries.
The 2026 Safety Reboot builds on a period of exceptional progress for AG, showcasing its excellence in safety and wellbeing through a series of major achievements. In 2025, AG was awarded the Mineral Extraction, Quarrying and Concrete Manufacturing Award in the Construction category at the All-Ireland Occupational Safety Awards. The company also received the Consistent High Achiever Award, presented to organisations that have achieved distinction or higher for five consecutive years, reflecting AG’s ongoing commitment to excellence in safety through its Go Home Safe campaign and integrated management system. AG’s in-house health and wellbeing programme, Activ8, was further recognised when the company won the Excellence in Workplace Health & Wellbeing Award at the 2025 Belfast Telegraph Business Awards.
AG’s 2026 Safety Reboot puts a concrete plan in place for sustained progress in health, safety and wellbeing. As COO, Mark McArdle comments,
“Safety sits at the heart of everything we do at AG. By further investing in innovations like Dulann and programmes such as Activ8, we are strengthening a culture where every employee can perform at their best and go home safe. As we look to the future, we will continue to lead the way in setting the standard for workplace wellbeing & safety.”
With strong engagement across the business and a continued focus on improvement, AG is striving to make 2026 another triumphant year for safety and wellbeing in the workplace.
