AG Champions Female Progression with Free Women in Business Membership

Leading paving and building product manufacturer, AG, has announced the latest addition to its employee benefits package aimed at supporting female progression within the construction sector – free Women in Business membership.

AG celebrated International Women’s Day 2024 by unveiling its new membership with Women in Business (WIB) to its 220-strong workforce. In tandem with its Corporate Social Responsibility strategy the company will join other prestigious WIB corporate members including Allstate Northern Ireland, Amazon, and PwC.

Established over 22 years ago, WIB is a not-for-profit organisation that provides women with the support, skills, and connections to achieve success in their careers by helping to address the structural barriers facing females in the workplace.

While primarily aimed at females, the new benefit will provide all employees, regardless of gender with complimentary access to a range of personal development opportunities, training programmes, and networking events.

Introduced to the wider team at two launch events led by Collette Kelly, Head of Membership at WIB, earlier this month, the membership will also form an integral part AG’s comprehensive health and wellbeing programme, Activ8.

Presently, women make up an impressive 22% of AG’s workforce, exceeding the industry average of 13%. Yet, the firm’s commitment to cultivating a diverse and inclusive environment as it grows remains unwavering. The launch of the new membership is poised to not only retain top-tier talent but also attract more women to join AG and the construction sector.

“We are delighted to provide our employees with access to the invaluable resources offered by Women in Business,” said Stephen Acheson, CEO at AG. “This initiative not only aligns with our company values but also underscores our ongoing commitment to supporting the professional development and empowerment of the entirety of our workforce. While the construction sector has been historically perceived as male-dominated, we aim to challenge this bias and ensure women have equal access and support to seize the numerous opportunities available to them within it.”
