AG Enhances Sustainability Strategy with SustainIQ Partnership

3 minute read

We are excited to announce our new partnership with SustainIQ, a leading ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting platform. Since its inception in 2018, SustainIQ has been transforming how organisations report and manage their sustainability and ESG impacts. This cutting-edge software offers a robust, data-driven approach to sustainability reporting that aligns perfectly with AG’s commitment to holistic and impactful sustainability practices.

As part of our Climate Action Pledge with Business in the Community (BITC), AG has committed to cutting its absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by at least 30% and reducing its Scope 3 emissions by 2030. Our most recent carbon emissions analysis showed a significant 47.8% reduction from our 2019 baseline. While our carbon calculator has been instrumental in tracking these reductions, we recognise the need to measure and track a broader range of sustainability efforts to reflect our comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy.

Our CSR team has been diligently working across our three key pillars: People, Planet and Performance and SustainIQ will enable us to address the complexities of sustainability reporting in a unified environment, offering actionable insights and real-time data on our social, economic, and environmental impacts.

Data will be gathered across SustainIQ’s native pillars, helping us to benchmark the entirety of our sustainability performance:

  • Responsible Procurement: Enhancing supply chain transparency and compliance with accurate data, ensuring partnerships align with our sustainability goals.
  • Environmental Management: Efficient tracking of waste, greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3), biodiversity initiatives, and water usage.
  • People, Health & Diversity: Monitoring and managing training, employee wellbeing and equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Community Engagement & Partnering: Calculating and reporting on the impact of community initiatives, donations, and educational programs.

Barry Scott, Senior Quality and Sustainability Technician at AG, remarked,

“The implementation of SustainIQ will be pivotal in our sustainability journey. The software offers a comprehensive suite of tools that spans every aspect of our CSR pillars, from carbon emissions to community engagement. By unifying our reporting and providing critical data insights, it will empower us to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement. This commitment not only keeps us at the forefront of sustainable practices but also aligns perfectly with our dedication to supporting local suppliers here in Northern Ireland.”

The implementation of SustainIQ at AG will be a company-wide effort, with ‘Sustainability Champions’ appointed at each of our four locations to oversee thorough and precise data collection across all departments. This initiative highlights that sustainability is a core component of every aspect of our operations, rather than being confined to a single department.

We aim to have the platform fully operational by 2025, allowing us to publish real-time reports on our website for enhanced transparency with both employees and customers. By establishing baselines and conducting annual performance reviews across our sustainability pillars, we will make informed, data-driven decisions that foster continuous improvement and help us achieve our ambitious sustainability goals, all while upholding our core company values: Customer Care, Innovation, Wellbeing, Sustainability, and Integrity.

Maria Diffley, Co-founder of SustainIQ commented on the new partnership,

“At SustainIQ, we believe that true sustainability requires more than just data—it demands a deep integration of insights across all aspects of an organisation. Working with AG, we’re excited to enable them to leverage our platform for a richer, more nuanced understanding of their environmental and social impacts. Together, we aim to set new benchmarks for transparency and drive meaningful progress in sustainability.”
