AG has marked an extraordinary year of health and safety achievements with celebratory lunches across its Fivemiletown, Toome, and Carryduff sites. The events brought together office colleagues across the business, who enjoyed a two-course meal as the company recognised its collective successes in workplace safety and wellbeing.

The celebrations centred around AG’s unprecedented triple win at the prestigious MPA Health and Safety Awards, showcasing the company’s leadership in innovation, safety culture, and wellbeing. Among the honours was the Sir Frank Davies Award, recognising exceptional commitment to health and safety. This accolade was presented during the Fivemiletown lunch by Gordon Best, Regional Director of the Mineral Products Association Northern Ireland (MPANI), in a proud moment for AG.

At the ceremony, AG was also honoured with the Fatal 6 Award for its Lock-Tag-Live initiative, as well as the Safer Through Improvements in Health & Wellbeing Award for Activ8, its accredited health and wellbeing programme. These three awards underscore AG’s position as a leader in fostering a safer and healthier workplace. However, the company’s health and safety success extends beyond these wins. In 2024, AG achieved the significant milestone of one year without a Lost Time Injury (LTI), reflecting its unwavering focus on operational safety.

The company also earned a Higher Distinction at the NISO and NISG All-Ireland Occupational Health and Safety Awards. Furthermore, AG was recognised with the Wellbeing at Work Award at the Business in the Community (BITC) Responsible Business Awards, highlighting the transformative impact of its in house health and wellbeing programme, Activ8.

Cathy Maguire, HSEQ Manager at AG, reflected on the importance of these accomplishments, saying: “Our triple win at the National MPA Health and Safety Awards is a testament to the hard work, innovation, and dedication of everyone at AG. The Sir Frank Davies Award, in particular, reflects our shared commitment to making safety personal and integral to everything we do. These lunches were an opportunity to celebrate the incredible team behind these successes and to thank them for their efforts in creating a safer, healthier, and more connected workplace.”

AG’s commitment to supporting local communities was evident in its choice to work with small businesses near each site for the celebratory lunches. Partners included LJ’s Tavern, MB Catering, and Cherry Tree Home Bakery, reinforcing the company’s focus on sustainability and investment in the local areas it serves.

The celebratory lunches provided a fitting conclusion to AG’s remarkable year, while offering a moment to look ahead with renewed commitment to health and safety excellence. With its continued focus on innovation, wellbeing, and collaboration, AG remains at the forefront of creating a workplace culture that prioritises wellbeing and empowers every individual to make safety personal.
