2 minute read

Last year, Kwikpac, a leader in end-of-line strapping, stretch film, and packaging solutions, installed an innovative pallet wrapping system and nano-layered stretch film for AG Paving and Building Products Limited to help reduce CO2 and plastic consumption, supporting AG’s broader sustainability goals. With a shared purpose of creating the most sustainable paving and building products, AG has garnered numerous awards recognizing their commitment to sustainability, and Kwikpac’s advanced solutions play a crucial role in advancing these environmental objectives while enhancing operational efficiency.

AG, a Northern Ireland based company is a leading manufacturer or low carbon paving and building products (Paving, Walling and Brick) and are celebrating 65 years in business this year. With a huge focus on sustainability and reducing emissions, a key focus is selecting suppliers who can help them reduce their carbon footprint and boost productivity. Earlier this year (2025) they achieved a 54.5% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, surpassing their initial 30% Climate Action Pledge commitment.

A year on from the Kwikpac stretch machinery installation, in conjunction with advanced KwikFilm pallet wrap, AG have seen a huge decrease in plastic film consumption by 7,079kg per year due to advanced film pre-stretch capabilities and less film snapping. Moreover, their running costs have been slashed due to less machine downtime and less film used, saving £39,350 per year, on the cost per pallet wrapped. Per pallet wrapped, the cost has been considerably reduced by 87% – from £2.48 to £0.31.

Declan Mc Stravick, AG’s Production Manager has been delighted with the Kwikpac partnership, stating, “AG is continually working to improve our environmental impact and drive responsible sourcing across our operations. Our partnership with Kwikpac has been a key part of that progress. Their plastic packaging solutions containing over 30% recycled content, and advanced machinery helps us maximise stretch and significantly reduce film usage. The ease of ordering their strapping means we can maintain both efficiency and sustainability across our production sites.”

Considering the initial machinery costs and analysing the impact of Kwikpac’s implemented solutions, it’s clear to see the numerous benefits of automation and KwikFilm pre-stretched machine film.

Gary Skirton, Sales Manager at Kwikpac, emphasises the importance of improving sustainability practices and efficiency, “We’re dedicated to driving efficiency and reducing environmental impact. Our solutions have proven to deliver remarkable results, with customers like AG achieving a staggering 16,284kg reduction in CO2 emissions in just one year. By downgauging to KwikFilm nano-layered stretch film and leveraging our high-performance machinery, businesses can significantly minimise their ecological footprint. As a champion of strong ESG practices, we’re proud to support like-minded customers in shaping a sustainable future across various industries.”

Kwikpac’s innovative packaging solutions, combined with AG’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, exemplify how strategic collaboration can drive sustainable industry advancements. By aligning their efforts, they are setting new standards for environmentally responsible practices, demonstrating that innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand to achieve significant environmental impact and influence industry-wide standards.
