Supply Chain and Planning Manager

Gordon Latimer has been with AG for 21 years and is currently the Supply Chain and Planning Manager.

Why did you decide to follow your chosen career path?

I was a QC for a food company, then an opportunity arose within AG where I saw a career path and the skills were interchangeable from the food industry.

 

What does your day to day job entail?

Liaising with departments, coordinating production, communications, speaking to operators (at all levels) Evaluating capacity and future proofing production capacity.

 

What do you enjoy about working at AG?

Various working days, where no two days are the same. Resolving problems and making customers happy. Satisfaction from seeing major capital projects that you have been involved in the production of the product and knowing that they will be there for the next generation to come. Especially in the increased use of retaining walls in Ireland which I was personally involved in from the beginning.

 

What would you say to someone considering joining the team at AG?

I came to the company as a young adult with limited education and the company supported me through training and mentoring which has helped me to progress to a senior level where I feel respected and empowered to make change.

 

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Family time, spending it with my grandchildren, days out in Ireland, enjoying good food in restaurants, and walking my German Shepard.

 

How has AG changed over the years?

AG has become more focused on quality. Staff welfare and health and safety are now a key element of everyday life. AG are a family company with family values that have never really changed.
