Planet

AG is committed to conserving and enhancing local biodiversity across all of its manufacturing locations, demonstrating best practice and raising public awareness — ensuring that wildlife, species, habitats and geodiversity are considered, managed and safeguarded across all its business activities.

For AG, environmental stewardship is essential rather than optional. Its participation in numerous biodiversity programmes and community projects, alongside several award wins, reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to protecting the planet and creating a positive legacy for future generations.

A Greener
Future

AG has one of the lowest carbon footprints in the industry and remains committed to reducing emissions and unnecessary production outputs without compromising product quality.

Surpassing its carbon reduction targets is an important milestone, but not the end goal. Through transparency, innovation, responsible sourcing and more comprehensive emissions reporting, AG is laying the foundations for the next phase of its sustainability journey — balancing growth with accountability and long-term impact.

As part of the RPM (Responsible Plastic Management) project, we have committed to sending zero plastic waste to landfill.

In comparison to 2024, AG saw a significant decrease in plastic film consumption in 2025, reducing usage by 7,079kg per year due to advanced film pre-stretch capabilities and reduced film snapping.

This follows AG’s partnership with Kwikpac to revolutionise pallet wrapping. Read more about the project here.

Business in the Community

Climate Action
Pledge

In a further commitment to sustainable construction, AG is a signatory of Business in the Community’s (BITC) Climate Action Pledge, a public commitment by an organisation to reduce its absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030, and to work towards measuring and reporting Scope 3 GHG emissions.

AG has surpassed this target, achieving a 57% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. Find out more about our decarbonisation performance here.

AG also achieved Platinum status, the highest accolade available, in the 2025 Northern Ireland Environmental Benchmarking Survey, organised by BITC — marking the third year running that AG has received this recognition.

Fivemiletown
Wash Plant

In 2019 A £2 million investment in a new wash plant led to substantial cost and efficiency savings while reducing carbon emissions. The wash plant has improved product consistency, resulting in higher-quality finished products. Crucially, it allows AG to process waste materials, including discontinued lines, and recycle them into new production.

Sustainable
in every sense

AG has made responsible sourcing, carbon emissions reductions, recycling, and repurposing integral to our operations and central to new product and process development.

Protecting
the Environment

As part of the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan, AG continues to participate in the 2026–2030 programme, designating areas across its sites that are managed for wildlife. These untouched spaces provide habitats for bees and other pollinators, supporting biodiversity across AG’s manufacturing locations.

Wildlife
Habitation

Encouraging biodiversity has always been central to AG’s sustainability commitment. The company has an in-house team dedicated to monitoring, recording, and positively managing wildlife habitats across it’s sites. One of the most notable conservation achievements is involvement in the Ballinderry River Project, which has improved the watercourse and protected the white-clawed crayfish.

The company are proud to report increases in the populations of Irish hares, sand martins, and dragonflies across our sites, as well as nurturing the peregrine falcons in the quarry.

AG has been proud to record increases in populations of Irish hares, sand martins and dragonflies. It is also an active member of the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan to create spaces where pollinating plants could survive and thrive. AG also continues to nurture peregrine falcons at its Fivemiletown quarry.
