Le Monde Holdings’ desire for a contemporary-look at its exclusive housing development in Clane was achieved by AG – resulting in another order for more of the same at its next housing scheme.

The Challenge

Le Monde Holdings had designed an exclusive, 90-dwelling Esmonde Avenue development in Clane, Co Kildare.

A low-density scheme of spacious ‘A-rated’ energy efficient homes consisting of detached and semi-detached family homes, which had to evoke luxury and aesthetic appeal to attract buyers.

Executing the architect’s desire to create a ‘good quality scheme with a contemporary feel’, the developer had also to integrate the best paving options throughout the spacious gardens, mindful of stringent SUDs criteria.

Enlisting Clane Landscapes to fulfil the remit, using AG’s versatile and low maintenance products throughout, definition was sought between the properties as part of efforts to create appealing outdoor environments for residents.

The Solution

Architect Brian Connolly was seeking to create a contemporary appearance infused with charm and warmth so he chose AG’s Lanyon ‘Elmwood’ and Woodward ‘Lyndhurst’ brick with their distinctive and authentic re-claimed appearance.

The immediate availability and ease of dispatch to the site further underpinned AG as the appropriate and cost-effective supplier for the scheme and provided an immediate benefit to the contractors.

The facing brick was complemented by grounds blanketed in AG’s Country Cobble® ‘Burren’ and ‘Slate’ as well as Mile Stone ‘Slate’ kerbs. Incorporating the addition of AG Circles, as focal points, the decorative paving features added a novel appeal to each individual rear garden.

Clane Landscapes testified to the ease of laying the circles and AG’s other paving materials, which helped the smooth progression of the development and the general cohesiveness of the scheme.

Architect Brian Connolly was impressed by the end result, both the brick and the paving products, which he said complemented each other very well.

As a result of their positive experience of using AG facing brick the architects have since commissioned AG’s Lanyon ‘Shannon’ facing bricks, for use in another of their housing developments, located in Naas.

“We felt the products enhanced our development and were very pleasing to the eye. Indeed we also believe the products helped sell the scheme.”
