Loftlines is a landmark residential development in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter, delivering 778 new homes across three residential buildings, alongside new public realm, landscaped areas and waterfront connections.
AG supplied approximately 700,000 Woodward Facing Bricks across four colours: Wicklow, Harland Blend, Edenmore and Oldtown Multi. The combination of colours helped create variation across the elevations while maintaining a consistent finish throughout the development.
The scale of the project required dependable supply and consistency. As a local UK and Ireland manufacturer, AG was able to support the programme with the production capacity and availability required for a major multi-block residential development. Working with a local supplier also helped strengthen the regional supply chain and reduce reliance on products travelling longer distances to site.
Woodward also provided a significant embodied carbon benefit. Woodward Smooth has an A1–A3 embodied carbon impact of 17.34 kg CO₂e/m². For comparison, the Brick Development Association’s generic UK clay brick EPD, BREG EN EPD No. 000002, Issue 4, reports an A1–A3 GWP of 213 kg CO₂e per tonne. Based on its stated average brick weight of 2.13 kg and 60 bricks per square metre, this equates to approximately 27.22 kg CO₂e/m².
Using this benchmark, approximately 700,000 Woodward Smooth bricks represent an estimated 115 tonnes CO₂e reduction, or around 36% lower A1–A3 embodied carbon than the generic clay brick benchmark.
To put that into perspective, 115 tonnes of CO₂e is comparable to the emissions associated with driving an average car for approximately 430,000 miles — around 17 times around the Earth.
Building on projects such as Loftlines and Nelson Place, AG has also been appointed as a preferred supplier to GRAHAM until 2029, strengthening an established relationship and supporting the delivery of future projects with dependable supply, product quality and lower-carbon concrete solutions.
