The Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC) at Global Point Business Park, Newtownabbey is set to become Northern Ireland’s national centre for advanced manufacturing and engineering innovation. Developed by Queen’s University Belfast in partnership with Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, the 10,500m² ‘Factory of the Future’ will bring together world-class expertise, specialist equipment and advanced technology to drive innovation and collaboration across the manufacturing and engineering sectors.
Designed to support research, training and technical development, the facility includes engineering halls, clean rooms and laboratories, office accommodation, meeting areas, an auditorium, café and collaboration spaces, creating an environment built for innovation and future progress.
AG hard landscaping products were selected to help create durable, high-performing and contemporary external spaces across the development. Xflo Plaza Permeable Paving was chosen to support effective surface water management while delivering a clean, modern aesthetic suited to the flagship innovation campus. Complementing this, Plaza Paving was used to create attractive and functional pedestrian spaces designed to encourage movement, interaction and collaboration throughout the site.
Aligning with Queen’s Net Zero 2040 strategy, AG’s low carbon paving solutions were a natural fit for the campus, supporting a project focused on sustainability, technical excellence and long-term performance. The development reflects a shared commitment to building spaces that inspire innovation, strengthen collaboration and achieve great together.
