Waterside Regeneration

The Challenge

As part of the masterplan to regenerate Northwich town centre, Hayhurst Quay at Northwich Marina was earmarked for a £10 million redevelopment, which included a new 27,000 sq. ft. Waitrose store.

Creating a vibrant waterfront, the project is set to be a catalyst for future phases of the town’s waterside regeneration.

The high profile project required modern, high quality paving products that would complement the architect’s vision for a state-of-the-art retail and leisure development.

Colour schemes were extremely important in setting the tone of the waterside development and the hard landscaping had to play an integral part in the overall feel of the project.

The Solution

With a mixed-use development such as Hayhurst Quay, AG had to provide a product that was highly durable yet complemented the modern approach of the development.

In addition to the new Waitrose store was the creation of a new marina for barges and larger river craft with associated facilities.

AG’s premium TerraPave® flags in Rimini Textured and Plaza granite ‘stone washed’ flags were chosen as the solution for this project.

TerraPave® flags are manufactured from carefully selected aggregate materials from quarries throughout Europe and are available in complementary ground and textured finishes.

As the architect for Hayhurst Quay required paving that was rich in natural appeal, TerraPave® in Rimini Textured fitted the bill. Enhanced with granite chippings, TerraPave® provides a luxurious finish for any prestigious development.

But it’s not all about looks – TerraPave® is practical too. Suited to highly pedestrianised areas, the hard-wearing flags have provided a beautiful solution for Hayhurst Quay.

As a contrast to TerraPave®, AG’s Plaza range was used in Silver Grey, Graphite and Slate. Plaza has many unique selling points that complemented this project. Not only is Plaza suitable for conservation areas, it also has excellent slip resistance and so is ideal for any hard landscaping required near a waterway. Plaza has a superb natural finish too, which helps designers to achieve their vision.

Using only the finest natural aggregates and sands, we have created a distinctive textured flagstone. The superb natural finish is manufactured to tight tolerances ensuring designs can be brought to life easily and accurately.

The end result has breathed new life into the Northwich waterway and the hard landscaping provided by AG has once again proven to be the choice for leading redevelopment projects.
